TODAY WE WELCOME MARIO INTO MASTINO RESCUE.  Our new intake is such a stunning tawny boy who turns 2 years old on 11/25 will be having entropion surgery and a full work up with Dr. Joel on Monday.  He has lumps on top of hygromas on his knees, is missing hair along with dried out skin and his paws are sore.  Being 20 pounds overweight x-rays show loose hips but are uncertain as to what point until a full exam with updated x-rays are completed.

Mario will be fostered in Illinois until his perfect home is found and he has time to recuperate from his eye surgery.  This entropion is one of the worst we have seen, clearly the picture shows he is unable to open his eyes which is extremely painful.  Just a couple more days and his healing process begins.  We are praying that he does not have any permanent sight issues from the eyelashes scratching on his corneas, we are however expecting to see ulcers which will heal with medicated drops.

Although, he is neutered he will be needing much attention, obviously bi-lateral entropion surgery in both eyes, vaccines, fecal, heartworm testing, skin scraping, x-rays and whatever else is needed to get him healthy.  At this time we can say he has been sweet during transport but it is unfair at this point to evaluate him due to his physical state.

The perfect home for Mario would be a nice quiet home in the country.  His people must be breed specific and willing to help him with his diet, take him on short walks and be patient with decompression time.  No children in the home under the age of 18, must own your home, have a 6 foot privacy fence, be the only pet at this time and be able to give him all the love he is deserving of.  If you fit the criteria please go to our website at and complete a Family Profile and a volunteer from our adoption team will contact you.

UPDATE:  Mario is recuperating nicely from his entropion surgery and has been started on his diet.  He has received several medicated baths and his skin is looking/feeling better already.  We see a huge difference in not only his physical appearance but he is much happier.  He is now up to date on vaccines, worm and heartworm negative. Could you be his forever home?

More pictures and updates coming.  We have you boy so no more worries, your loving home awaits you.
